Description

Lines, alive is inspired by the ambiguous relationship between Molloy and Moran, the two main characters in Samuel Beckett’s novel Molloy. I wanted to explore how material from two diff erent musical worlds might – or might not – relate to each other. This work grew out of an initial sketch I prepared for the Britten-Pears Composition course in July 2017, in which I challenged myself to compose a short scherzo using only one musical line.
